We did what many have told us was impossible.... we took a family of four to the beach with out a mini van OR a dvd player! Shae found this cool roof top carrier on craigslist and did a great job packing and securing it! You can't imagine how much stuff we fit in there!
The boys "reading" during the drive. Note- I took this picture from my seat... in the third row. It may have been sort of cramped back there, but it was worth it. I could feed Leo snacks and attempt to entertain him through out the long drive.
We stopped for some groceries before we drove over the bridge to the island. (OK, so we stopped for tp and drink mix)
We finally made it to the condo and Teddy was thrilled to pull "Suki" his suitcase (yes he named his suit case. He routine plays with "her" too).
When we got checked in it was about 5:00 and we hadn't eaten dinner yet. But that did not stop us from making a mad dash for the beach (after packing up a ton of gear and snacks)
dinner time!
check out the curls Leo got at the beach!
What's better than supper at the pool? How about breakfast on the balcony.... looking at the pool AND ocean!
Our condo was great. It even had a little bed just for Teddy. He loved it!
Loverboy got to come to the beach too!
This goofball seemed to like the condo too:
And this is me... putting my feet up. Ahhhhhh
First full day on the beach. It was a gorgeous day. And did I mention we took A LOT of stuff? This is for four people (and two of them are very small people at that)
Leo had company in his "baby pool"
Shae and Teddy helped fill Leo's pool. I think this picture pretty much sums up who is in charge here:
Thankfully both boys LOVED the beach. They both enjoyed the ocean and the sand as well as the pool.
Old Style at the pool made Shae one happy daddy!
One of Leo's many silly faces:
The other bonus of the beach... it will wear a guy out!
(doesn't he look so big here??)
Day two on the beach was gorgeous as well. Not only did we have a great view of the water, but we got to see lots of the big boats go by
I had fun playing with my new phone/editing pictures too!
We went to supper Tuesday night and Leo got to wear take off sandals that match Teddy:
Leo liked the supper!
We went souvenir shopping after supper and ran into this guy:
Of course we had to go out on the beach one more time before calling it a night!
More beach pictures:
With a floating vest, water wings, and a ring.. Teddy was ready for the water. Safety first!
But hey, if it helps him float "independently" in the water, yay for him!
So, as you can tell from the pictures.... our trip pretty much consisted of playing in the water...
and eating:
For part of his birthday present, Shae asked for surfing lessons during our trip. We got to take a peak at the end of his lessons and were very impressed!
watching Daddy:
Check out this hot surfer dude:
Hang Loose!
with his instructor
Playing in the waves:
Notice the signs posted...where Shae was surfing...
I got some "me" time on the beach as well. Check it out- putting my feet up! Ahhhhh
Oh yeah, in addition to swimming, digging, and eating... we also took a lot of naps. Vacations are the best!
Leo "cruising" in the condo:
He is quite the ham:
and he loves his brother!
Our last full day was pretty overcast but that did not stop us from dragging the boys to the beach first thing in the morning!
Not only was it cloudy and very windy, but it was about 25 degrees cooler than the day before!
Not too cold to make a sandcastle though
Or have an ice cold beer...
hey...who gave that baby a beer????
While Teddy was cautious about the water... Leo had NO FEAR. Here's a short video:
After Teddy started crying it was "too cold" we packed up and headed to the pool. It was much warmer and we had a blast swimming with the boys. And look, they are probably fine on their own now, right:
I love this picture.... it shows how much Leo loves his Dadda!
We went to The Crab Shack for dinner Thursday night. But first we had to make one last stop on the beach:
Still very windy!
But the coolest- we saw a bunch of dolphins jumping and they were very close to the beach. It was so amazing!
Hey look... we're at the beach!
Supper time!
Look who likes coloring!!!!!
The restaurant had a bunch of rescued birds as well as alligators that we got to feed!
The day we had to leave, it was pouring rain. (Good for our mood- it's easier to leave a rainy beach.... not so good for Shae who had to pack the car). While Shae packed up the car the boys and I took pictures:
This is possibly my favorite picture...ever:
We left Tybee and headed to Savannah where we stopped for lunch. And to walk around the beautiful city.
Look who got to do more coloring at lunch:
We found a lion statue so we had to take a picture:
But then it was time to get back in the car. Here is my view again...such a cutie:
Although I had to sing, do a puppet show, and continually feed Leo snacks... we got all the way to the outlet malls for our next stop!
Here's a shot of Leo and me in the waaaaaay back (after feeding him). Don't worry.. as much as we were tempted... we didn't drive this way.
As you can tell... we had a wonderful vacation. In fact, on the way home we were already talking about making it happen again next year!
