Leo is ONE and I'm not Lion!

Leo had a birthday- and of course, I went way overboard with his party.  I just really enjoy planning and throwing the parties and I want to celebrate such a big day with friends and family.  So, here are a bunch of pictures from the day.
We were trying Leo (and myself) on a no-dairy plan for 6 weeks (it did NOTHING to help Leo's reflux issues) so I made his cake out of a parve passover cake mix.  It tasted like matzo but he didn't seem to mind.
The invitations:

So I went a little crazy on the desserts....
My new favorite thing to make: chocolate covered oreos...so easy and so yummy (though filled with dairy)
And of course Lion Cakepops!
I decorated the mantle with some of my favorite pictures of Leo (I could only fit about 14 of the 18 I printed)

A "brothers" poster with my favorite pictures of the boys over the past year:

Coincidentally we had some lion things around the house to decorate with:

The morning of Leo's birthday, Teddy brought him our wooden cup cake with a candle and sang Happy Birthday to him... it was too cute:

Though he wasn't sure about the cupcake at first, it wasn't long before he dug in!
some one else dug in pretty quickly
I also attempted to make some dairy free cake pops for Leo and me.  I could only find dark chocolate (no colored chocolate) so they didn't turn out so great ... unfortunately they didn't taste any better than they looked....
rinsing off the birthday boy!

Present time!
Leo had some "help" from Teddy and Finley.  I think they let him touch one or two of his gifts!
Note the adorable outfit my sister made for Leo!
Teddy was very excited to give Leo "That's Not My Lion"
I think Leo likes the big singing ball we got him!
But not as much as he likes the wrapping paper!

The Gibsons and my parents stayed for the after party!

And of course... the rocking chair picture:
I can't believe Leo is already one.  This year has flown by, although it is hard to remember a time with out Leo.  He is such a fun, social, giggly, and cuddly baby.  He is babbling all the time and recently started saying "Leo, thank you," and lots of other words.  He waves hi and bye and claps his hands.  He also continues to struggle with reflux and has not slept longer than 3 hours in a row for months.   We have been taking him to the chiropractor for almost two months now but have not seen any changes.  We have an appointment set up with a GI specialist in a few weeks.  In the morning, when we are exhausted and at our wits end, we take one look at his big grin and chubby cheeks, he grabs a hold of us and gives us a big hug, and we almost forget about the sleepless night!   We are, of course, incredibly thankful he is a part of our family and we continue to feel blessed to watch him grow and develop.
After naps, Teddy and Leo got to open all the new toys.  I think Teddy had as much fun as Leo!
We headed out to Sweet Tomato for supper because neither of us felt like coking.  Check out the ONE YEAR OLD!
Happy Birthday Leo!!!
